Christmas is fast approaching!
We’re excited about the season because of the happy moments it gives us. It can be about the gifts we wish to receive, or the ones we wish to give to our loved ones. It can also be about spending more quality time with family and friends.
Aside from these, the excitement about Christmas is for all believers who celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. So they think of ways to make Him happy by expressing love and compassion, reaching out to the needy or simply doing good deeds.
But what about ourselves? Should we also think about giving the best gifts to ourselves this Christmas?
Oh, yes, we should.
We’ve been working hard all these months, so we also need to make ourselves happy. Here are some suggestions on how we can best reward ourselves this Christmas.
Unwinding.
Stress is something we can’t totally get rid of any day of the year. It seems to want to follow us wherever we go. But this Christmas, let’s try our best to forget about anxieties and worries. Worrying won’t solve anything anyway. So let’s enjoy each moment we spend with our loved ones. We may go out of town, enjoy the beaches or mountains, relax and really, really give ourselves a break.
Forgiveness.
It’s easier said than done, but there’s no harm in trying to forgive those who did us wrong. It’s one of the best gifts we can give ourselves. Why? Because when we let go of the anger, bitterness and pain, we set ourselves free from the negativity. We’ll feel lighter and we’ll find inner peace. This will also provide us with mental and physical wellness which can make us healthier and happier.
Reaching out.
Reaching out need not mean spending our money to the less fortunate. We may have things we no longer need that can still be used by others. Clothes, bags, shoes, books and school supplies, and so much more. Giving them to the needy will give us joy that can last a lifetime.
Savings.
Saving must be the hardest thing to do during the Yuletide season. But we must still try to budget our expenses and save. And how will we do this? Well, we can buy less expensive gifts and save a little money every week before Christmas Day arrives. Take advantage of discounts or items on sale, and try buying products in good quality at thrift stores. We may also opt to buy foods that will be just enough for the family or for guests. Don’t overspend and get broke after Christmas!
Investment.
This is certainly one of the best gifts we can provide ourselves, and it’s not just for Christmas but for our future! Investing for as low as P1,000.00 or P5,000.00 in Philippine stocks is now possible. And there are other investment schemes to choose from. Mutual funds, insurance, real estate, micro business, bonds, and so much more!
We won’t be young forever. So invest while we’re still strong and healthy. And there’s no better time to do it than this Christmastime. It’s definitely the best gift we can give to our own selves.
