You’ve just graduated. Congratulations! For sure you’re thrilled and nervous at the same time to have a job! So here at Conektome, we wish to help you decide on your career path. We’d like to give you some tips on the things you must consider before applying for a job.
Design your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) based on the job you’re applying for.
Creating your best resume or CV for each company you wish to work for will help you land the job. It means you have carefully reviewed the job position you wish to get. You have prepared yourself for the position as you have prepared those documents. There’s a big possibility that the Human Resource (HR) officers will consider your application when they find out that you’ve painstakingly made an effort to submit your documents relevant to the job you’re applying for.
Make sure you check your social media accounts.
You may not know this, but HR officers don’t only review the documents you sent or submitted. They also have the tendency to check your social media posts. This is because those posts reveal a lot about your attitude and your personality. And those two are quite important to companies when they hire people.
Know the company or institution.
Check the nature of the company and determine if you’re interested or you have the passion for their line of work or products. You also have to determine if your qualifications suit the position you are applying for. Realize if you have the skills needed and if those are applicable to the job. Know if you can contribute to the success of the company.
Determine if it’s a win-win situation.
In this day and age, you need to think about the company’s welfare and of how you can be one of its assets to its successful endeavors. But you also have to think about your own welfare. One factor that must be considered would be the distance between your would-be place of work and your place of residence. Another factor would be the salary you will be getting (if the company has published about it). You also need to think about the benefits you would be receiving.
Realize if the company will give you job stability.
It is pretty important that you understand from the start if the job you’re applying for is only for contractual basis, or project-based work. Or should that be the case, you have the right to know if they will eventually provide you with a permanent or regular position. Well, you have to know these things discreetly because they are important factors to consider when you’re applying for a job. You should think about your career growth and your future.
Observe the environment inside the company if you have the chance to do it.
The attitude of the people or the system at work is such a huge factor to consider when you’re applying for a job. If you realize that you don’t like the environment or their system at work, you’d be miserable! And that’s not good for your health and well-being. There are a lot of depressed people because they are not happy with their work environment and job.
Be ready to deal with different types of people.
As you start applying for a job, you already have to be ready to meet different characters and attitudes which may give you stress. And you have to deal with all of them in a decent and proper way. You must be prepared to accept criticism constructively. Do your work the best way you can when you’re already hired. Try not to be affected by harsh words and bad remarks of your future co-employees. Just always be professional.
These are just some of the factors you must consider when you’re applying for a job.
Summing up, you should be able to be an asset to the company by working hard and accepting your responsibilities. Likewise, you should be taken care of by the company for all your hard work. You must also be happy with what you’re doing. This way, you won’t feel as if you’re working at all.
